The Sharks lost 5-4 in overtime to the Avalanche on Monday night ending their hopes of making the playoffs. It was the 3rd of 4 games in a row against the Avalanche in which the Sharks have lost all 3. Evander Kane scored his 21st and 22nd goals of the season, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Avalanche who came back from a 4-2 deficit in the 3rd period with goals from Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri before Andrew Burakovsky beat Martin Jones 41 seconds into overtime to knock the Sharks out of playoff contention. The elimination from playoff contention will give the Sharks the opportunity to evaluate some players from their AHL affiliate the San Jose Barracuda over the last 4 games of the season. The Sharks play at home against the Avalanche again on Wednesday.
